Reuse of the Former Sant'Agostino Convent, Montepulciano, Siena
The restructuring of the ground floor of the former convent, with the intent of housing the Val d’Elsa Employment Center, offered the opportunity to start the restoration and requalification of the entire Sant’Agostino complex. The restoration of a part of the loggia involved the reopening of three Renaissance arches by demolishing the infills applied in the late 19th century, and the addition of a missing column. The building constructed inside the courtyard about one century ago has been lowered, detached from the buildings of the complex and lined with copper cladding to give it character and distinguish it from the rest of the context.
