Nautilus, AMFSnaps corporate nursery and kindergarten
Bassano, Vicenza

A building adjacent to the southwest corner of the new production plant complex is dedicated to the AmfSnaps children’s corporate facility. The two-story volume is made of wood structure.
The two floors are closely related, visually and functionally, inside and out. At the entrance, the main staircase is set into a large double-height space. Outside, a second staircase connects the garden to the terrace on the second floor.
On the ground floor are reception, the nursery and general services; on the upper floor, the kindergarten.
The design interprets the Montessori orientation that characterizes the pedagogical program. Nursery and kindergarten have open, interconnected spaces, with essential subdivisions to give each age group the most appropriate context. Children can move independently within a network of pre-designed areas dedicated to specific activities.
The entire space is characterized by a strong relationship between inside and outside. On the ground floor, a continuous glass wall, protected from rain and sun, connects the nest to the garden. On the first floor, the height of the windowsill allows kindergarten children to look outside.
In the more internal areas, the connection with the outside is reinforced by the inclusion of a courtyard, large enough to accommodate a small tree.
